Tanner Person and I have been working on using virtual reality to encourage flow states, in which we loose a sense of time and self. Such states have been gaining greater attention for their ability to tackle stress and increase productivity. The availability of tools and methods for attaining them is on the increase, and advancements in brain scanning technologies mean that such states are being taken more seriously by the scientific community. We hope to contribute to this area by using tried and tested flow-state-inducing flow-toys and bringing them into the virtual space with modern commercial media tech.
In collaboration with Tanner Person, I am exploring how virtual reality can be used to induce beneficial flow states, which are usually associated with surfing, meditation, or being "in the zone", where you are more creative, more productive, and loose your sense of time or self.
